Your Snapchat was hacked? Here is how to recover the account, preserve your streaks, and remove any malicious third-party app permissions using Snap's official compromised-account flow.
Recovery Steps
Check for a Snap security email. Snapchat emails your original address when account info is changed. If you receive one with a "Secure your account" link, click it immediately — this link is time-limited.
Go to support.snapchat.com → "My Snapchat was hacked." Fill in your Snapchat username, the email address on the account, and any details about unauthorized access.
Provide ownership proof. Snap's team may ask for: the email or phone number at registration, approximate account creation date, linked third-party accounts, recent story or streak contacts.
Revoke third-party app permissions. After recovery, go to accounts.snapchat.com → "Apps" → revoke any unauthorized third-party apps that may have been added by the attacker.
Re-enable two-factor authentication. In Snapchat Settings → Two-Factor Authentication, set up an authenticator app (more secure than SMS).
Streaks After Account Recovery
Once your account is recovered, contact Snap Support via the in-app "I need help" form and report that your streaks were lost due to the hack. Snap can restore streaks in most cases if the request is made within a few days of recovery.
