Is Autel recovery different from DJI?

Mostly no. Autel uses standard H.264 / H.265 in standard .MP4 containers on standard exFAT-formatted microSD cards. The recovery technique is identical to DJI. The one difference: Autel doesn't have a 'recently deleted' bin in their app, so you can't restore from there — you have to recover from the card.

What about Skydio recovery? Skydio is shutting down consumer drones.

Recovery still works on existing cards. Skydio 2 / 2+ wrote standard H.265 .MP4 to microSD. The Skydio X10 / X10D enterprise line is fully supported. Note: if you used Skydio Cloud sync, your footage may also be in the Skydio cloud account — check there first.

Can you recover from the Skydio X10 thermal sensor?

Yes. The X10 thermal stream is stored as R-JPEG (radiometric JPEG) — same format as DJI's thermal. Recovers cleanly with temperature data intact.

My Parrot Anafi Ai uses cellular — does that change recovery?

Accepted Answer

Cellular streaming doesn't replace card recording — Anafi Ai still writes to microSD locally. Recovery is standard. The only cellular-specific issue: if you lost cached proxy clips on the controller phone/tablet, those are app-level recovery (iOS / Android), not drone recovery.

What about older drones — Yuneec Typhoon, 3DR Solo, original Mavic Pro?

Yes — anything that wrote .MP4 / .MOV to a microSD or SD card is recoverable. The codecs and containers are well-established. We've recovered footage from a 2014 Phantom 2 Vision+.
