Question 1

Why is AerialRestore so much cheaper than Disk Drill, Recoverit, or Stellar?

Accepted Answer

Because we built one tool for one job: drone and action-cam video. We don't try to also recover Word documents, Outlook PSTs, or partition tables. Less surface area, less code, less price. One-time $12.99, lifetime license. The competition is selling a Swiss-army recovery suite at $79-$149/year.

Question 2

What's the single most important feature for drone recovery?

Accepted Answer

moov-atom rebuild. Almost every 'unplayable' DJI / GoPro / Autel clip is a .MP4 or .MOV with a missing or truncated moov atom (the file's index). A generic recovery tool will recover the file but it still won't play. AerialRestore reconstructs the moov from raw H.265 / H.264 / ProRes NAL units, producing a playable file. None of the generalist tools (Disk Drill, EaseUS, Recoverit) do this reliably for DJI.

Question 3

Does free GoPro / DJI 'video repair' software work?

Accepted Answer

Free repair tools (Untrunc, ffmpeg with reference file, etc.) work for some H.264 .MP4 cases if you have a known-good reference clip from the same camera shot at the same settings. They do not work on ProRes, ProRes RAW, CinemaDNG, or modern H.265 reliably. AerialRestore handles all four without needing a reference file.

Question 4

Can I run AerialRestore on Mac and Windows?

Accepted Answer

Current recovery downloads include an Apple Silicon Mac DMG and a Windows installer. Intel Mac compatibility and exact-build signing/notarization are not verified. Check the available installer before purchasing.

Question 5

What if my card is physically damaged (bent, snapped, water-corroded contacts)?

Accepted Answer

Software can't help with physical damage. AerialRestore will tell you within the first scan minute and refund you. For physical damage, send the card to a clean-room lab (DriveSavers, Salvage Data, Kroll Ontrack) — expect $400-$1,500.

Question 6

Is AerialRestore safe to run on my card?

Accepted Answer

Yes — it's strictly read-only. The card is imaged into memory (or to a working file on your computer) and recovery happens against the image. Your physical card is never written to during the scan or recovery.

Question 7

What do you mean by 'free preview before paying'?

Accepted Answer

After the scan, AerialRestore shows you a thumbnail and 5-second preview of every recoverable clip — before you pay anything. If your shot is in the preview, you pay $12.99 and unlock the full clips. If your shot isn't there, you pay nothing.
